GIBSON SIGNATURE
  GIBSON Les Paul Signature

The Gibson USA came together again in 1995 with Jimmy Page to produce a guitar similar to the N. 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard No. 2. The production period was from 1995 to 1999.
The guitar was built with a single piece of mahogany AA top in figured maple, a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with inlays on a trapeze with the final black palette. All metal parts are gold color, cream pick guard with engraved and with the gold color painted signature of Jimmy Page. A three-way selector, the knobs for tone and volume, each with a push button to put the pickups out of phase, series or parallel, to make l’humbucker the single coil for having 21 different combinations of sound in one. The top finisher Honeyburst. The pickups were standard 4-wire 496R and 500T.
The guitar was sold with an emerald green hard and in the inside of the housing the cover for the guitar signed by Jimmy Page. The guitars had a standard number of eight numbers. The price of the original production of this guitar was $ 6300. By the end of 1995, Jimmy was not happy with the guitar and he expected a higher percentage of sales. Jimmy mentioned the Gibson to stop the production. The Gibson wanted Jimmy Page to promote the guitar more than he. The first 421 guitars were made with the neck in the form of custom like Jimmy wanted but in that year the Gibson adopted a standard package and changed also the color Honeyburst to a new version more red, that is evident in the versions after 1995.

The Gibson denies that and said that the neck is authentic in all the stages of production and that the color variations are due to the fact that all instruments are hand-finished and that the variances are inevitable. In addition, the first 500 guitars are assembled in 1995 with Grover mechanics. The Grover went through later from the 'bean form' to the 'tulip form' key and the height was lowered to 0.038 and a locking nut added to the bridge according to the request of Jimmy. The case was resolved and Gibson continued production.
This model of guitar is not a model Custom Shop but a "Signature"; its Gibson’s standard production. However, the selling price was higher than a normal Les Paul standard.

I am the owner of the Jimmy Page Signature since 1995, the first model that arrived in Italy at Sergio Tomassone in Via Petroni. The price was at that time four million and two hundred thousand lire.
I did not regret at all: even if it’s not like the custom shop, it is always a beautiful Les Paul.
