The Martin D-28 Acoustic debuted at the Bath Festival of Blues & Progressive Music Festival, 28June 1970, when Jimmy Page played The Boy Next Door (That's The Way). Page continued to use the Martin in That's The Way and Bron-Y-Aur, until the end of the 1970 U.S. Tour, 19September 1970.
The Martin D28 was seen afterwards in the European Tour in 1973, when Page played Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. In the show of Earls Court 1975, Page played the D-28 for the acoustic set. To increase the sound quality, Jimmy Page used a Barcus-Berry model 1355 and a Barcus-Berry model 1330 preamplifier.
Page bought a second Martin D-28 for the tour in the States in 1977, used for different tunings for various acoustic songs. The first Martin D-28 used is marked with a small white star in the center of the mask.
The Martin D-28 was later used in 1990 in a 10-minute interview with Jimmy Page. He played in that occasion the chords of 'Kashmir' as well as some verses of popular songs. Page used the Martin D-28 in The Rain Song in 1994, in the video No Quarter with Robert Plant.
