Gibson Double Neck 2007
The Gibson Guitar collaborated with the legendary Led Zeppelin’s guitarist Jimmy Page to produce a limited edition of a remake of the double-neck guitar. The guitar was created through collaboration with Jimmy Page and the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, and is based on the specifications of the original double-neck model Jimmy Page Gibson EDS-1275 of 1971, used on stage for 'Stairway To Heaven.
The two necks are built with 12 electric strings on the top and six electric strings on the bottom. It took more than a year for Page to find a studio and an analysis of the whole process for this reproduction. The project between Page and the Gibson began in 2004 when Gibson built the Les Paul Standard 1958 n1 with the autograph on the headstock. Gibson repeated the idea again in 2005 after the overwhelming success of his Les Paul n1 and the project began to evolve.
The Gibson Jimmy Page Signature Double Neck is an exact duplicate of the 'original EDS-1275. The Gibson has made only 25 limited edition guitars, bringing back the double neck in every detail of the original, with a 20 fret rosewood fingerboard on both necks, the style of the blade built and modified on the profile, the master volume and tone controls on each neck, a three-position master for the switch of the pick-up and a three position switch as well as to select the pickups on one or both necks. The reproductions are finished in Cherry wood, what is unique for the new model and that will be enhanced to the 25 Limited Edition models by aging, costumed and authenticated by the Gibson Custom.
Each of the Limited 25 Edition aged is characterized by the signing of Page on the back of the headstock, a Custom Shop certificate, a certificate of authenticity signed by Page, the acclaimed case with the double Led Zeppelin DVD and a copy of a private interview with Jimmy. The 25 perfect reproductions of the Double Neck were sold for $ 33,500. The Gibson produced also 250 Original Double Signature Double Neck Vintage not aged and signed on the headstock, but with a certificate of authenticity, sold at 10.000 to 12.000 dollars. Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman of the Gibson Guitar said: "Working with Jimmy Page proved once again an experience wonderful and a great satisfaction. We are excited that we can offer to all his fans the unique sound and style of his legendary double-neck guitar”.
Mine double nick is one of the 250, bought in San Diego for $ 8000, it’s really beautiful. The work done by the Gibson is really perfect, I'm always excited every time when I take it in my hands, knowing that Jimmy has used it playing the most beautiful song of the rock history. I had also found one of the 25, but the actual price of sale is $ 50,000, and that’s really too much for me.
