GIBSON Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty" 1957

Used with the Yardbirds and then in the early years of Led Zeppelin, serial number 06130.
The Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty was purchased in 1962 for 185 pounds. Used mostly by Jimmy in sessions (1963 to 1966 and during the tour from January 1970 to April 1971. The Gibson has been stolen at the airport from Canada the on 3 or 4 September. Jimmy Page released an advertisement in the Rolling Stone offering a generous reward to anyone who found the guitar. The Gibson did never return.

The Gibson came back in 2008 with another version of a reissue Jimmy Page; this time is the Black Beauty Custom with a bigsby bridge. Jimmy helps also this time to rebuild in every detail the Gibson with three pickups, the neck with rather thin structure, Bigsby bridge and golden mechanical. There are a few versions with a normal bridge.

The innovative six positions switch of the pickup that allows the isolation of the pickup on the neck and bridge, or add the middle in any combination on the potentiometer push button version.
The guitars had a very special paint treatment of the nitro to make it more vintage as possible. The guitars are always made in limited series of 500 pieces, which the first 25 played and signed on the back of the headstock.

The Gibson Custom Shop wanted to give this legendary Les Paul Custom at Jimmy Page who had loved it and then lose it. My Gibson Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty" is the version VOS purchased by Tomassone in Bologna in 2009.
Mine is the version without Bigsby bridge, which was added at a later time. Just like the other Gibson versions of Jimmy Page, the guitars is placed behind glass for now and believe me, it has never been played.
